Bricked Our CarPlay
We’ll this started off great. I was able to follow instructions and connect effortlessly my iPhone to our car’s CarPlay wirelessly.Unfortunately, I added a second phone - my wife’s - seemingly without a problem. She gets in the car a little later and her phone doesn’t connect. After troubleshooting, I attempt to remove the AutoSky device from her phone and remove the device from our car in settings. After several attempts to restart the car with the Apple cable connected for CarPlay, the car and the phone no longer connected at all. AutoSky completely bricked my CarPlay.Unfortunately, I thought this little USB adapter would’ve been non-invasive. But instead, it messed up our car’s CarPlay and my wife’s phone’s ability to connect to CarPlay. I have not yet tried my phone to see if it will reconnect using the Apple cable but will later.I will not be trying other brands either for the potential risk and causing me to have to go for the car dealer/manufacturer for something so unnecessary.Contact appears to be email only. RED FLAG. I should’ve known better. I’m sure it may be good email support but having a tech company, you should really have a number to call if someone runs into tech issues so they can troubleshoot live.I’ll have to sacrifice wireless convenience for CarPlay system reliability. Glad it worked for others, but unfortunately not for us.

Perfect for the 4th generation Toyota Prius.
This is my second wireless carplay adapter after my ottocast died late last year, and is even cheaper. It fits perfectly in the area for the USB port in the fourth generation Toyota Prius. As you can see from the photo, my USB for CarPlay, AUX jack, and even my 12 V outlet are all directly behind my cupholders, and not inside my center console or at the bottom of my dash. This makes it difficult plugging anything in half the time. With the ottocast, it had a short cable on it which made it hard to mount up there, I tried using double-sided tape in front of the center console, but it never stayed. This style is a lot better for this vehicle because it’s more like a flash drive or it plugs directly in. You don’t need to use any of the adapters it comes with. Despite not being listed in the compatible vehicles, it still works with the factory carplay. The only issue I had was updating the software, after it downloaded it would get to 1% installing, and then the whole radio would restart and nothing else would happen. CarPlay would load back up again as if nothing happened. But I contacted support, and they were very quick in replying to me telling me that in that case, the radio is cutting power too fast. They told me to plug it into a powered USB port like on a computer. I did that, and it updated just fine. Maybe that’s what killed my last one I don’t know. But I know now for future reference with any other adapter to do this trick. My only issues with it are, and I had this with my other adapter, is there seems to be about a one or two second delay with the audio. This makes watching YouTube videos on my phone not possible unless I disconnect from the adapter, and whenever I pause at least from the steering wheel control, it will pause and then play about a half a second and then pause again. Again, this is either an issue with the vehicle or with wireless CarPlay adapters in general, but I’m not sure not having access to another make or model vehicle with carplay. The only other feature I could ask for with this adapter is have a passthru USB port for charging something else, my old one had this. Not required, but for my vehicle I am very low on power ports and anything helps.

READ ME Various Problems Solved
First, I agree with other reviews: Drive away from any Wi-Fi’s that you use (such as home/work/Starbucks). THEN connect this device. Secondly, I am one of the people whose device sent calls straight to voicemail. It took a while to figure out, but the problem is not AutoSky; rather, Chevrolet. The problem is caused when your phone connects to the vehicle’s infotainment center as well as CarPlay. To solve this I deleted the Bluetooth to my Infotainment center. Afterword, CarPlay quit sending phone calls straight to voicemail. Speaking of…..I too have had times where I struggled to hear the caller on speaker phone and they struggled to hear me. I noticed this is preceded by being on the radio of my infotainment center. If I am in CarPlay when the call is received, the audio and microphone levels are fine.It is my belief that this problem is predicated by Chevrolet having separate volume levels for Bluetooth, radio, CarPlay, etc. and each one needing to be adjusted separately.Long story short: only have one Bluetooth & WiFi connection and keep your dash on CarPlay (not Infotainment) and your likelihood of success goes way up.Last, by removing the Bluetooth from my Chevy Infotainment Center, CarPlay loads up quicker. However, I nearly always begin my drives by backing up so I went ahead and put CarPlay on a 10 second delay. If you want to make changes to the “delay startup” setting, use the update website.Ps. I upped my audio settings on CarPlay to DVD quality and have not suffered any lag nor delay. That too is in the device settings. To adjust your device, plug AutoSky into a power source and point your SmartPhone browser to:192.168.2.1
