Easy Peasy.
I do not normally write reviews but in this case I decided to do so as I bought the product even after reading many of the negative reviews on this water filter as it appeared most of them were due to operator error or the fact that how long a water filter lasts, in spite of the time specified by the manufacturer, very much depends on the local water quality. There is no getting around that. So here is my two cents. It was easy to install and there were no leaks even after connecting it, disconnecting it, and reconnecting it several times just to be sure. The provided brass compression fitting to PTF (Push to Fit) adapters at each end provide the flexibility to make the water connections by either using a standard 1/4" NPT (National Pipe Thread for those of you who do not know what that is) compression fitting or by following the provided instructions and removing the brass adapters via the built-in PTF feature. This is done by pushing in on the quick-disconnect collets at each end and pulling out the adapters, which I also did several times after reinstalling them and there were no leaks. This is a really good feature because even if one connects the filter using the 1/4" NPT compression option (a tried and true type of plumbing connection), which only requires two small wrenches, once it is connected after that, one can use the PTF connections to replace the filter and no tools are required. This feature will also allow one to use other PTF type water filters as many are made with this feature nowadays. The filter's 5-year life also makes it a cost effective purchase compared to others.Lastly, I had a question as to whether this filter would fit into the Lasco #37-2201 2-inch water filter bracket designed to fit more standard size water filters and sometimes sold with this filter because in the online photos this filter appears larger in diameter than most others and it is (approximately 3 inches in diameter). I called EcoPure and got through to a real live human in short order but the front-line customer service people did not have that specification available but thought it would fit. In spite of all of that; yes, it does fit because the diameter of the filter cannister at the “out” end is stepped down to two inches and if one looks carefully, this is visible in the online photos. Easy peasy.

Water filter for the fridge that came without
I ordered this to remove a flavor from ice cubes in my fridge. It seems to be doing something, but it did not change the flavor. Either it is something about this fridge, or the unit doesn't work. There were too many good reviews for me to believe that this filter doesn't work, so I'm not blaming it.Overall, it was easy to install. I just shut off the water to the fridge under the house and got to work. I had an old waterline kit at the house that I had never used, so I just grabbed some parts out of it and slid the tubes into each end of the filter. It fit tight and did not leak.

Exactly what I needed
Thank you! I live in a desert and am surrounded by manganese mines, so the water is very mineralized and that taste is strong. Because of the off-putting flavor (and high TDS), I started drinking bottled water several months ago. But that got pricey, so I looked for something to fix the water taste. I bought this EcoPure filter. Immediately, I could taste the difference, and what I mean by that is that my water now has no taste, which is perfect. The filter doesn't affect the TDS but it's not designed to, I'm just happy to have good tasting water that doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. Note: I had bought a highly-recommended reverse-osmosis system but didn't realize until after I'd bought it that RO systems waste 4-5 gallons of water for each gallon of water they produce, and I cannot afford to be throwing away hundreds of gallons of water every month, living here in a desert, especially with the drought we've had the past 2 years. So, getting back to this EcoPure inline filter, I'm glad I got it, it's working great. And you're going to need some extra 1/4" water line with fittings to hook it up.
