Hard to find katana at a great price
First of all, I'd like to give props to 1sword for another great deal with very fast shipping, this time on a very hard to find katana that's no longer in Musashi's catalogue. I'd been looking for an Unokubi Zukiri blade for some time and this one was a great deal. The sword itself is from the Musashi Silver series, and came with a certificate. The fittings and wrap are all very snug and comfortable in hand, and the blade balance is very good. The blade is quite effectively sharp out of the box and cut very well. Like other Musashi swords, the blade comes covered in grease, but they wrap it in plastic so you don't wind up with a scabbard full of goo, which is a nice touch. This coating, however, did leave some blemishes on the blade that I'm having trouble polishing out, possibly indicating the sword sat too long in the grease-and-plastic wrapping, leaving a pattern. Also, there are some long dark streaks on the beveled back "edge" of the Unokubi "cormorant's neck" section of the blade parallel to the spine. I'd almost think that this indicated some lamination to the steel, but this is supposed to be a mono-steel blade, so I'm not sure what it is. It may be some unevenness in the way the blade was shaped, missed in the polishing process because the blade shape is uncommon.Otherwise, like other Musashi swords I have, the blade is straight, nicely polished, with no significant "rippling". Fittings are cast and painted zinc alloy per the certificate, and I may eventually replace them, as the sword is worth a little upgrading down the road. For now, there are no rough or sharp spots on the guard or fittings to chew up my hands. The scabbard is basic but attractive and well-fit. Overall, this was a great deal on a unique and nimble kata and light cutting sword.

Sweet
My second Musashi both silver series. And very pleased. I don't cut mats or chickens with them. But make nice furniture that can go straight to battle or zombies.
