it's tiny and would easily be tweaked out with EQ
I'm using this with an Oktava MK-012 with a hypercardioid capsule on a boom pole for video work. The price is less than 20% of the "hard shell" type windscreens and has worked flawlessly in every situation so far. I haven't tried it on a windy beach and don't expect to. The elastic rubber ring stretched enough to fit over the mic capsule and guarantee it won't come off. I've used a longer Rode furry windshield for years on my Sennheiser MHK416 mounted on my camera and have never experienced wind noise. In testing the new WS8 screen both on and off the Oktava, none of the adults listening could hear a difference. Dogs and children might hear it, but if there's a difference, it's tiny and would easily be tweaked out with EQ.

Works well with the Rode NT5
Unit arrived on time from vendor and worked as intended. I bought this to use with a Rode NT5 which I use as a field interview mic for documentaries and corporate videos. When used with the NT5 this windscreen reduces some of the low frequency rumble you'd get from overhead fans and HVAC units. The tone of the speakers voice will be slightly darker but nothing that isn't redeemable in your DAW. Overall I'm happy with this unit and will mostly like recommend it to to others in the future.

Dead Kittens - worth every penny
Worked precisely as anticipated. Without a windscreen, the Rode M5's were picking up the wind noise from my ceiling fan - on low! They come with foam windscreens, but I was recording an outside event and figured that the dead kittens would be needed. It was well worth the investment, as the final recordings were crystal clear, no wind noise at all. If you plan to record in an open environment with condenser mics, these are, IMHO, a necessity.

Very effective
Supremely effective at wind diffusion. These were for use with a pair of Lom Ucho mics and a Zoom H5. Recommended.

Good
Reasonably priced and small enough to classify as a dead-kitten rather than a dead-cat (groaner humour, ugh). Superior to a foam filter, it will still a moderately stiff wind, but in a typhoon, forget it. For that you want a blimp. Pleased with my purchase.

So-so
overpriced for my use case. Bought for line audio om-1 and cm4. These were soon exchanged for movo ballistic nylon wind protection that performed better for less money in my case.

Good for light breezes.
This dead cat does the job in light breezes. I've used it on my x8 and h2n. Living in Ireland we are prone to more than light breezes so I also bought a Rycote dead cat. This does better in stronger wind but still not perfect. The search continues for an affordable good dead cat.
