I purchased this keyboard through Amazon as soon as it was released for my M1 iMac. A few weeks in and the keyboard no longer has bluetooth connectivity - I attempted to contact Apple support and my serial number is not recognized in the system, so I can't even get through step 1 on Apple support chat or phone!! So infuriating. It is a beautiful keyboard that functions exactly like you would hope, until it loses all "wireless" capability.

I read some of the other reviews, so I checked my serial number as soon as I received the keyboard. It was packaged properly but the serial number is not recognized by Apple. I am returning and purchasing directly from the apple website (originally purchased here for quicker shipping). Purchase at your own risk but be sure to double check once you recieve.

the keyboard itself have no problem, but when i tried to register keyboard warranty with the serial number on it , i can’t even with the help of apple support they can’t register into the apple databases

The touch-id breaks after being established with the latest MacBook Pro. It works for a short time, and then after a few hours, it will not work. When it is pressed, it will disconnect the keyboard from the computer. No matter what you do, it will not work. I had the same problem with two different keyboards. I contacted Apple, and they could not fix it. Apple has created a failure.

Works well with a 2020 M1 Air. The fingerprint reader/Touch ID works as advertised and was the selling point for me. This allows me to dock the Air off my desk and in an area that is not easily reached. Note that this will not work with all Macs. Check carefully before buying.Battery life is disappointing compared to a Microsoft Surface keyboard I use with a Windows machine. The Surface keyboard seems to have borrowed heavily from the design language of Apple keyboards. They are very similar in look and feel. Advertised battery life for this is 1 month. The Microsoft Surface keyboard has an advertised battery life of one year. On the upside, this is rechargeable. If the battery dies, you can continue using it while it charges. The Surface uses AAA batteries, disposable or rechargeable. Personally I prefer user replaceable batteries for certain products, this included.The battery in this can be replaced by the end user (sort of) but doing so will require a tear down and as of this writing, a 29 dollar battery. It doesn't appear to be overly difficult but for those that are not so inclined, I suspect a lot of these keyboards will wind up in a landfill if the battery fails before the keyboard does. On the other hand, I suppose it could live on with a charging cable permanently connected.iFixit has a tear down video for the smaller version of this keyboard. I read that the battery is likely to last as long as the projected life of the keyboard. If accurate, most users will not have to deal with battery replacement for a very long time. Regardless, a keyboard (and other products) designed with an easily replaceable battery by the end-user is a better solution and more environmentally sustainable.I also have a 'vintage' wired keyboard from Apple (model A1243, EMC No. 2171). It still performs flawlessly after thousands of hours of use. Its constructed with a higher content of aluminum and the keystroke action has a slightly smoother and dampened feel. The additional weight helps keep it in place on my desktop. The 'vintage' wired keyboard looks and feels like a premium product you might expect from Apple. This does not have the same hard to define feel of a 'quality' product. They look very similar however.Compared to my 'vintage' wired keyboard from Apple, this keyboard is 'plasticky' and light. As far as I can tell when observing closely, what appears in the advertising to be an aluminum carriage like my 'vintage' wired keyboard seems to be painted plastic. I think. If the structure is aluminum, its constructed from less aluminum. Its a product I'd expect from an aftermarket company at significantly less cost. I expected more. At almost 200 dollars after tax, much more. If I had to speculate, perhaps the inclusion of a fingerprint reader added enough cost to result in budget cuts in other areas.If you don't want or need Touch ID in a keyboard and don't mind a wired keyboard, 'vintage' Apple keyboards can be found in eBay for very low prices. As of this writing, I found a few in the ten dollar range and they appear to be in excellent condition. Most seem to be in the 30-40 dollar range. For 30-40 dollars even in 'pre-owned' condition, they are worth the price.The 'plasticky' nature of this product may be a nitpick. Its hard to argue that point from a utilitarian standpoint. Regardless, for those that appreciate subtle design details, user experience and for those willing to pay a substantial premium for these things, I can't help but feel disappointed.Bottom line, Touch ID is the only compelling reason to buy this. As far as I know, Apple and aftermarket sources for Mac products do not offer stand-alone fingerprint readers. There are fingerprint readers advertised as being mac compatible but as far as I know they are not. There may be kludgey software workarounds for aftermarket fingerprint readers but for a security device, not recommended. If you want an external fingerprint reader for a mac and designed by Apple, this and the smaller version (model MK293LL/A) are the only options.

I purchased this keyboard for use with my M1-Max MacBook Pro (2021) since I often use it connected to a Thunderbolt Display as essentially a desktop machine. I wanted a keyboard with Touch-ID capability, and well, this is pretty much the only option at the moment. It works nicely, has zero problems connecting, and just does what it's supposed to do as a keyboard. My only nitpick is that it only comes in bright silver, and I would liked to have had a space grey/black key version to match my notebook. Other than that, zero complaints.

Like the previous Magic Keyboards I have used, this one is easy to type on and relatively quiet, though not silent. If you like the short-stroke keyboards Apple makes, you'll like this one. However, battery life is not very good: you'll find yourself having to plug it in to your Mac every few weeks. And the price is very high, compared to the nice wired Apple keyboard I used for years on my iMac. The "reason" for this is the TouchID. You may not want this feature depending on how you use the keyboard. If you're constantly on the go and inserting your MacBook into a dock often, you will find the promised convenience of the TouchID is limited, since it will not turn on the MacBook, only unlock it. To turn it on, you still have to open the MacBook and use the TouchID key there to start the computer before you put it in a stand and plug into the dock. I tend to leave mine attached to the dock a lot, and so putting it to sleep and waking it with the TouchID on the keyboard is great. If you always use sleep mode when you aren't using your MacBook, this shouldn't be a problem.

Don't spend your money on this. It's a completely fake apple product. The keyboard itself is not wireless and needs to be plugged in at all times in order to work at all. Also, the touch ID does not work at all and all of the keys on the top row are misplaced. So you cant even turn up the volume using this keyboard because the keys are not in the right spot. I read the other reviews about it not being real and I wish I had listened- don't waste your time :/

Ich habe mir die sehr teure Tastatur für meinen M1 Mac mini gekauft, weil ich unbedingt Touch ID haben wollte.Ich nutze die Tastatur ausschließlich für Office und den Alltag. Die Tasten sind nicht beleuchtet, aber sehr gut auch bei schwachem Licht lesbar, da der Kontrast mit den weißen Tasten und schwarzen Buchstaben / Zahlen / Symbolen einfach stimmt.Der Tastaturanschlag ist sehr gut und angenehm, ich kann keine Mängel feststellen. Touch ID funktioniert nur mit M1 Mac's! Intel Mac's können Touch ID nicht verwalten.Zocken kann man mit der Tastatur weniger gut, aber es geht.Toll finde ich die Möglichkeit, die Tastatur der Lightning aufzuladen, aber das ist ja nichts Neues.5 Sterne, wenn Apple die Tasten beleuchtet.

Ich habe länger hin und her überlegt, ob ich mir dieses Keyboard für mein Macbook leisten möchte, denn es ist ja nicht gerade ein Schnäppchen (wenn auch günstiger bei Amazon als die UVP). Optisch fand ich die Tastatur ja schon sehr ansprechend, aber ich konnte mir nicht so richtig vorstellen, wie ergonomisch eine so minimalistische Tastatur sein kann. Dazu gleich mehr.Die Tastatur wird in einem von Apple gewohnt schicken Karton geliefert. Außer der Tastatur findet sich noch eine (unnötige und ebenfalls Appletypisch wenig aussagekräftige) Anleitung und ein geflochtenes kurzes USB C auf Lightning-Kabel. Das Unboxing ist also weder spektakulär noch zeitraubend (wenn man die vermaledeite Plastikverschweißung endlich entfernt hat).Nach dem Einschalten ist das Pairing eine Sache von wenigen Sekunden und schon kann es losgehen. Die Tastatur funktioniert sowohl mit dem Macbook als auch mit meinen ipads Air4 und Pro Gen.2 ohne jegliche Probleme. Natürlich ist Touch ID auf M1-Rechner begrenzt.Jetzt zum wichtigsten Punkt - wie schreibt es sich denn auf dieser Tastatur? Kurz gesagt, fantastisch! Ich hatte noch nie eine Tastatur, auf der ich so angenehm geschrieben habe. Der Tastenhub ist nicht lang, aber deutlich spürbar und sehr angenehm. Das Geräusch beim Tippen ist relativ dezent (klingt für mich sogar sehr schön) und auch das Tippen langer Texte ist eine wahre Freude. Die Form ist wesentlich ergonomischer als ich das gedacht hätte und auch die scharfen Kanten des Gehäuses stören mich beim Schreiben überhaupt nicht. Ich habe hier rein gar nichts zu kritisieren. Wenn ich noch irgendwo rummäkeln möchte, dann (außer über den Preis) vielleicht darüber, dass es keine Auswahl bei den Farben gibt. Eine Hintergrundbeleuchtung der Tasten vermisse ich hingegen nicht, weil die weißen Tasten auch bei schlechtem Licht super ablesbar bleiben. Trotzdem hätte man sie natürlich bei dem Preis mitliefern können.Nach ein paar Tagen und vielen Stunden Tippen kann ich die Tastatur für Vielschreiber also nur wärmstens empfehlen!

Apple verlangt einen stolzen Preis für die Tastatur. Geliefert wird aber auch ein wertig wirkendes Produkt. Aluminium sieht stabil aus. Auch das Gewebeumhüllte Ladekabel ist schön.Die Tastatur selber ist recht flach. Andere Hersteller haben beispielsweise Füßchen zum Ausklappen, das hat diese Tastatur leider nicht. Fingerprintsensor funktioniert ebenfalls problemlos, war mir wichtig, wenn der Deckel vom MacBook geschlossen ist.Ware als gebraucht „sehr gut“ gekauft, das kann ich so bestätigen. Verpackung war geöffnet, aber sonst ohne Mängel.Preisersparnis ist aus meiner Sicht ok.

Es ist eben eine Tastatur, wie man sie von Apple kennt. Schlichtes, modernes Design, sehr gute Verarbeitung und wertiger Eindruck. Die Verpackung ist schick.Sie hat keine Gaming-Features oder sonst irgendetwas, leider auch keine Tastaturbeleuchtung, was schön gewesen wäre. Außerdem hätte ich es begrüßt, wenn der Fingerabdrucksensor auch unter Windows bzw. älteren Mac oder IOS-Geräten funktioniert hätte, aber das dem nicht der Fall ist hatte ich der Produktbeschreibung bereits entnommen. Daher konnte ich den Einsatz desselbigen auch noch nicht testen.Für den Einsatz mit Windows-Geräten sei gesagt, dass die Alt-Taste und Windowstaste vertauscht sind, da Option (ALT) sich wie aufgedruckt links der Taste COMMAND (Windowszeichen) befindet, bei einer Windows-Tastatur wäre dies aber umgekehrt. Oder zumindest konnte ich es nicht anders bewerkstelligen.Insgesamt eine Kaufempfehlung, wenn auch nicht für jeden. Als Windows-User muss man das Design schon sehr mögen, dass es den hohen Preis rechtfertigt, für Apple-Nutzer kann dieser schon eher gerechtfertigt werden, auch, da es keine gute Alternative für externe Mac(book)-Tastaturen gibt, welche eine vergleichbare Qualität bieten.

Die Tastatur kommt in Sachen Haptik und Schreibgefühl nicht an meine bisherige mx Keys ran .Der Kaufgrund war ursprünglich der Fingerprint zum entsperren meines Mac mini- nur ist man halt mehr am schreiben als am entsperren , so dass das Feature allein die Nachteile nicht überspielen kann.Dazu kommt die fehlende Tastaturbeleuchtung und das zum fast doppelten Preis.Sorry.
