One works great the other....works....sort of
I bought these for the price and solid reviews. Of the set of two (one for pepper and one for salt) they both "technically" work, in that when you twist salt and pepper come out but really only of them actually functions well. When I first bought them the one I used for salt was a lot of work to even get a morsel of salt to come out and the pepper one was working great so I thought maybe one is supposed to be for pepper and the other for salt (they are unmarked, you can put any salt or pepper to grind in either one) but when I essentially switched the salt and pepper, the new "salt" one was grinding PERFECTLY and the pepper one was the same in that I had to sweat a bit to truly get anything out of it. I switched the settings for grinding, I took them apart and put them back together and nothing. One just works and the other one is ....functioning.I mean for the price don't expect too much. I wish both worked well, not just the one, and I'd give it 5 stars but since it's a toss up if you'll get both working that well then 3 stars.

Five years
We got these five years ago. They've been used fairly routinely in the kitchen for five years. The pepper grinder met its demise yesterday, after five years.Pros:* Upside down design minimizes leaks* Not bad looking* You can see how much is left in them* Easily adjustable grind* They last five yearsCons:* The covers are a bit annoying* The salt tends to cake up* They only last five years

Our 2nd pair (because we loved them so much)
edit 2: It's now 5 years later (2023), I still love these, and they still work great! I'd say we use it moderately on a daily basis.edit: it sounds like some people are experiencing clumping, which we did too. That means your spring is stuck. Remove the top from the bottom glass (optional). Twist the middle grind consistency knob until the entire knob comes out, but be sure to do that in an area where you can safely retrieve the small parts. A spring that pushes against that knob might pop out, so make sure you're able to keep track of it! If the spring doesn't pop out (mind was stuck) then knock it against a counter or something until it dislodges, or use a pointy object--just be sure you don't lose the spring! Once the spring is clear, clean the salt or pepper around it, put it back in, then screw the knob back until you get the grind consistency you want. Start with more course and move to finer until you're happy, don't twist it all the way to fine/closed then back out to course, because you might get the spring stuck again. This will fix your clumping issues.I bought this set years ago and recently moved (and left it in our old home) so we bought another pair. I'm a big fan of spending more money on better quality products since so many things can't be trusted anymore. But at $10 for this set, it's a steal. Having used this for years and being familiar with the quality, I'd easily pay $35 like I've seen for "higher end" models that couldn't possibly be better than these. If you're looking for salt & pepper grinders, look no further and get these!

Awesome grinders!
I have been shopping for salt and pepper grinders for several months now. If I find a style I like it's extremely expensive, and if I find a price I like the quality is poor. So I came across this set on amazon and decided to give it a try. The size is perfect, they're pretty attractive, so I was hoping that they would perform well. The order showed up and the glass was cracked on one of the grinder bottles. Unfortunately when I went to Amazon website to try to see if I could replace the item, there was no box to check for anything except to return them to the merchant. There was also no place to contact the merchant. I was kind of bummed, but I went ahead and filed for the return since that was my only option. A couple days later I got an email from the merchant asking me how I liked my purchase. I was so happy they emailed me! I told with them what had happened and they apologized for the cracked item. They also told me go ahead and keep the set I have- don't even bother to return them- and they sent me out a replacement set. The replacement set arrived about a week later. I picked it up from the post office 4 days ago and they are amazing. I absolutely love love love them so far. The dials to adjust the grind are pretty much infinite - you could go from a powder to almost a full peppercorn coming out, seriously. They are a great size for my hand, they hold enough so you're not going to have to refill them constantly, and are not too bulky or heavy to manage.

Aesthetically pleasing, but tough to cook with.
I've had these grinders for approximately 6 months now. Though they look nice, in my opinion, there are three major drawbacks...1. They are too small. I am an avid cooker, and at only 5'3" you would think these wouldn't be "too small" but if you're trying to get a good amount of pepper on some meat before you sear it, you will easily give yourself a hand cramp. It's difficult to twist and turn these grinders without getting your other hand in the way.2. Peppercorns get stuck easily. Since the inside of the mechanism is seemingly plastic, peppercorns tend it get stuck, thus rendering it unable to grind. So I have to put the top back on and smack it against my palm to dislodge said peppercorn. Not very fun when I'm just trying to season something during the cooking process.3. The dials don't work very well. I have tried turning the dial to be more/less coarse and it's either very fine or very coarse. It's difficult to judge how far you are on the "fine" side versus the "coarse" side.Though these would be great for at-the-table use (which is probably where I will use these from now on), they are in my opinion not suitable for cooking.

Bueno y malo
