Round Set 2 - Includes twelve 1 oz dropper bottles of ink in Golden Yellow, Orange, Tangerine, Crimson, Cherry Red, Red Violet, Aqua, Turquoise, Yellow Ochre, Terra Cotta, Van Dyke Brown, and Sepia. Q: Are these inks translucent or opaque?

I've used them over the top of Winsor & Newton watercolor. Some are more opaque than others. All dry with a visible sheen, so you can definitely see them standing out from the more matte watercolor with light shining on them. I was using a glass dip pen directly from the bottle, not diluted, and using the dropper to make lines. Needed to wash the pen right away, and it took some work to get it all out of the grooves. I was happy with the colors and how fine the lines were that I could make.

Q: Are these inks acrylic based? I have a glass nibbed pen and I cannot use acrylic based ink in it without it gumming up.

India ink contains shellac. Shellac is derived from a beetle, it is not polymer based like acrylic.
