Tints of Nature 4M Medium Mahogany Brown Permanent Hair Dye, Nourishes Hair and Covers Greys, Ammonia-Free, 4.4 fl oz

This is a GREAT permanent hair color product made in Great Britain that has the least harmful chemicals than other products I've ever used!! It has natural oils and extracts, no ammonia, is vegan, is an eco-conscious brand, dermatologically tested & cruelty free. It is well worth the money, safe to use, has good coverage and lasts as long as anything else on the market with no side effects that I've ever had. I've been using it for years with no problems. The directions are easy to use and the price is much cheaper than having your hair done at the beauty salon!!! The only trick is speculating on what color matches your hair the best. It only took me 1 try to figure out what color was best for me. I get MANY compliments on my hair looking so natural & beautiful....I am 75 yr old, active, very young at heart and going strong! Am not ready for gray or white hair just yet. :-)

I have been using this product for several years.I really like it because it doesn’t make my head itch like dyes from the drug stores or salon. The other plus is that if you get a little bit on your forehead, it comes off with soap and water fairly quickly.I have completely gray hair, and this covers it very well.

I thought I would have to give up coloring my hair because I was having terrible reaction with scalp burning at salons and with over the counter brands. I tried Garnier Olia oil powered hair color and found color retention very poor. As a last resort I researched less toxic brands and found several at health food stores. However I was not satisfied with color results and found the color did not last well. Then I found Tints of Nature online out of UK. Website research info was extensive describing effort to create a product with the least toxicity. They have a large color selection and incorporate a line for gray hair that has a color number followed by the letter N. I read reviews and paid particular attention warning to select color lighter than I would normally select. Glad I did. I had medium brown hair (before gray). I ordered 6N dark blond and it is medium brown. To avoid dark build up I alternate with 7N medium blonde. I have been using for for almost four years and have the best color and conditioned hair since I started coloring. Their colors are mixable so you can tweek colors. I don't mind taking time to divide the solutions so I will frequently use a half bottle of 6N on roots and 7N on the rest. As long as the remainder has not been mixed it can be recapped and used the following month. The solution is gel like and does not drip. The wait time is up to 40 minutes for gray. Packaging is nice and similar to over the counter products. Best of all for me no burning! The color lasts but I do not shampoo unless necessary. Instead I condition and rinse daily. Helps me control curly hair. The color is fine for three weeks and I can stretch to 4 but then roots start to show. I have purchased for as low as $13 dollars but usually around $15. My hair is one length, full and just above the shoulder and one bottle covers well. Use a paint brush to get everything out of bottom of bottle or you can tap it out. Box includes pre shampoo and post shampoo and conditioner. So happy I found a product that is less harmful and still gives me great color.

Here is an update from Nov. 2015 -Unfortunately, it applies to the seller of this product, not to the product itself. I bought it at the beginning of October, and now 5 weeks later it still has not arrived from the UK to LA, CA. No tracking info, nothing to do about it, but to ask for a refund and never buy again.I purchased this product for the first time only recently, after doing some online research. I was looking for a healthy alternative to a brand that I used for almost a decade. I have about 20% gray hair, more so on my temples, and my natural hair color is dark brown. The Medium Brown 4N by Tints of Nature seemed to be the best match, so I gave it a try. I had nothing to lose but gray hair.When I got the package, I read everything on the box and in the instructions, just to make sure I'm not missing any warning, as we all know, these things always come with all sorts of warnings. Though, I did not do the allergy test 48 hrs ahead as I never had any allergy issues before, even with brands that are known to be less safe. And I did not regret it, because I had no issues at all. It's been now 5 days since I used it and I am completely fine.As for the product, I instantly liked it. The color smells very nice, it does not have the typical chemical/toxic smell to it, and I did not even have to turn on the fan in my bathroom. The preparation time is just as with any other brand, as there are two bottles that need to be mixed well, and you are good to start with your journey. The mixed color paste is just thick enough that it does not drip from your hair, and still, you can run your comb through your hair if you need to. I also like that it is made of the certified organic ingredients, and that it has the least amount of the toxic ingredients, which they have to use in order for it to fully cover your gray hair. Be aware that this is not a 100% non-toxic/organic product, however, it is the least toxic permanent hair color that I could find on the market.In addition, it is made in the UK, and to my knowledge, they need to comply with the much stricter EU safety standards, unlike US manufacturers. That fact alone gives me a piece of mind, as FDA has not changed their laws about the beauty products and their safety since the 70s.And the most important thing, the hair color came out beautifully. It has a warm tone of the dark brown shade, and it fully covered all my grays. My hair looks shiny and natural. The gray portion got a very slight tint of a dark brown with golden undertones, but they are still very well covered. No one would be able to tell that those were gray hairs at some point. The previous brand that I used to use would give me a very dark brown with black undertone, and it was a bit too dark. I love this product, it is the safest I could find, its packaging is made out of recycled materials, and they use organic ingredients, among other things.The only thing I don't like is its price. It is about double of what other similar products cost and I have not seen it in any store in CA. Which means, there is shipping time to include in your wait, so I am about to order myself another box.I highly recommend this brand, and this is after using hair colors on and off for about past 20 years. I started experimenting in my teens, and by now I consider myself an amateur-pro, if there is such a thing.

I use this brand because other box dyes and salon dyes hurt my scalp. I feel that this one is gentler and does nit use as harsh chemicals so I am able to tolerate 40 mins of it on my head. Coverage is good - gets most of my grey hairs. I feel that it is not damaging my hair as much as other brands.
