Cris Tales (NSW) - Nintendo Switch

I really wanted to love this game, the demo was amazing last year, the art style is unique and beautiful, it’s so gorgeous. But…. They deceive you and once you past the “demo” portion you realize this is unfinished padded out mess. The random battles are ridiculous, no strategy just random battles every few steps to the point you forget where you were going. The load times on the battles are so long that it really makes the experience irritating… modus games should refund everyone until they update and finish this game… a lot of bugs and glitches and lagging so something that should be finished…. Such a sad shame…

Cris Tales is what it promises to be, a love letter to classic JRPGs. The turn based combat borrows from Final Fantasy X with a turn timeline to show what’s coming up, to plan appropriately. RTB commands a-la Super Mario RPG are used to increase damage caused and mitigate damage received. The main gimmick is in time manipulation however, controlled by the protagonist to send foes forward or backwards in time. Combining this with party members status effects lead to Yu-Gi-Oh Time Mage style Shennanigans like clobbering your enemy with several turns of poison damage all at once, or making their equipment rust away after dousing them in water. Sending them backwards often makes them weaker as younger versions of themselves, but you can set similar traps in the past and then yank them back to the present to trigger them.Gimmicks aside the difficulty level is high for a modern RPG, it’s very easy to get beat if you don’t pay attention. Your time manipulation is just as likely to strengthen foes as hurt them, so careful use of your powers is required.The most charming part of this game is in its art. Everything in the game is hand drawn and vivid, with beautifully composed music. The game is a true feast for the eyes.Criticisms: the Switch version struggles to keep up with the demands of the software, load times are longer and more frequent.The crystal split screen sections can be a little disorienting, it would be nice if you could hide the future or past or both to make it easier to focus on the portion you are interested in.As previously mentioned, difficulty is high off the bat, which may discourage some players.In a season of remakes and remasters, Cris Tales is a delightful new IP that oozes charm, a definite must play on any platform.

I do not want to ruin the game for anyone...so I will simply say...if you plan to buy this game do not lulled into having low level characters at the end. Again, not to spoil the game I would buy the item that you put on your weapon that does not allow one character to be stunned and another for burns. Take the time to buy anti-burns and coffee during game play. I would buy at least 25 of each at minimum. Overall, load times are slow. On a bright note, the graphics are stunning! The story is good.

I've just started but I've at least played the demo and I love this game. It's creative and the art is SO BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT. The gameplay is captivating, I love whenever I get to time skip!

The media could not be loaded.  Cris tales is a turn-based RPG of the old days you play as Crisbell a girl with new found powers as a time-mage. Who must save the world past ,present ,and future from evil . Cris tales has gorgeously drawn visuals , whimsical funny characters and some cool inventive game mechanics with time - manipulation that come in handy in some enemy encounters in-world problem solving puzzles and also in some major boss fights being able to send your enemy to the future or past has different effects whatever decision you make can give you in advantage in battles. put with an intriguing story line stretching through time no pun intended it calls for a fun time but all that going for it sadly it still manages to fumble a bit. Repetitive random encounters with enemies makes it tedious loading screens after loading screens when progressing thru the game and story makes it loose it’s charm for a bit , dungeon’s are bare , objective marks are non existent making it hard to navigate thru the story and puzzles at times. But I still managed to look past it’s flaws and enjoy the game for the most part till the credits rolled.

So Cris tales is a unique take on the RPGs of old. The story is mildly interesting and the random battles are repetative but the characters are fun and engaging. I recommend the game for hardcore RPGs fans but if you are looking for a great game to play I would suggest Dragon Quest 11 or Ys 9.

Someone cut the wrapper and stole the game cartridge. I didn’t notice until I want to play and unwrapped the box. Return it for replacement. Remember to check off the game is sealed properly when buying games from Amazon or any other places before the return deadline. I usually kept the games for awhile before open them. After this I won’t be doing that anymore.The game loads a bit slow. Before and after battle you will notice the loading time. There’s no difficulty setting. Gameplay time will also count when you turn off the Switch without shutting down. I haven’t played much but it shows I’m playing 24hrs+ already.Only played a few hours and it felt slow.

First of all, it’s a beautiful game. Lovely hand drawn graphics pull you in immediately. I was very excited to play this and once I started to get into the gameplay mechanics I realized as beautiful as it is, it feels clunky. Random encounters are plenty which is more annoying than anything. The transition into a battle screen is the same as any other loading screen so you don’t know if you’re getting into a cut scene or battle. That is one of my main gripes, it just feels unpolished The loading screen, as cute as it is, gets annoying fast and load times are long. I purchased this to support this developer because I felt so strongly in the visuals, but gameplay needs work. There are some fun ideas, but the main mechanics are clunky, long to load, and at times frustrating.

Okay, I'm exaggerating, but only slightly! This is a fun game, love the graphics. It takes you back to old-school JRPG, like a stroll down memory lane! But... get in a battle, 10 second loading screen... win a battle, 10 second loading screen. Enter (or leave) a town, or another section of a town, or a house in a town, or a cathedral, or... 10 second loading screen. Really hurts the playability.

30+ hours in.The story is nice, voice acting is fantastic, art is amazing, music is annoying. The problem here is that most boss are healing 500hp at every turn, every turn, every turn.... So a boss that has 3800hp will take you 1h and 30 minutes to beat and that only after many try and an average of 5 hours of grinding just to beat that boss. So the bosses just feel like pain, no tactic and a lot of luck.Just look on the solution to beat the bosses, you will see that a lot of people have stop playing the game because it is just pure bad game design. All the bosses are immune to everything and they regen all the time. So imagine playing for 45 minutes and you get the boss to 1hp, then 3 rounds later it is back to 3000HP.Loading time are in minutes for every battle, 1 minute in and 1 minute out. So I would say that on 30 hours of play, probably 7 hours are just waiting for the loading.One last thing, this game require you to do frame perfect quicktime event at every attack and every block and even after 30h, I only manage to get them to work 1/3 of the time. There is a character that require you to mash the button 100 of times per attack so fast, I never managed to get the meter more than 25% of the force of the attack. Once again cheap mechanic that require super fast reflexes at frame perfect precigion???This game is a crime against humanity. Stay away, the DEV wanted to punish the player, we should punish them back by not giving them money.Update after almost 40 hours : I cannot kill the time emperess (second apearance) because the game freeze and freeze, I tried 6 times changing the attacks that made the game crash to no avail. The game has been update multiple times, yet like me many people cannot complete the game because it is broken beyond repair. This game is a fraud and a scam. Avoid at all cost, even if they sell it for 5$

The art style, the music, the story and the gameplay works properly, my only complain would be that time crystals become obsolete after certain point and the developers should add harder late game bosses.

Llego un día antes de lo esperado. Un buen juego que tiene el estilo de los RPG'S clásicos, con muy buen arte.

Beautiful art, decent story, ok music. Abysmal load times between fights and screen swaps (10+ seconds, even after an apparent update that fixed the issue), and the game glitched and shut down several times causing me to lose data. Don’t buy.
